I am sitting here typing and looking out my window. I live opposite a church, and all day cars drive along the street, slow down, look, and drive off again. There is a huge, and I mean huge, sign on the fence with the dates of the next services. Maybe they nodded off in church when these days were last mentioned at mass, as I am sure they would have been.
Mind you, this happens all year. I am not sure of the reason behind it, but cars drive up, stop, look, drive off. In fact, the poor church never gets a rest from visitors, no matter what day of the week it happens to be.
I guess unless I become a parishioner, the mystery will remain a mystery, or maybe even then I won't be able to figure it out. Where did they come from, and where do they go afterwards?
I am also wondering whether a drive-in church would better suit this community, as they insist on parking as close to the door as possible, to the detriment of the "gutter" between my nature strip and the road. Then again, its a little difficult to kneel I guess if you are sitting in a car !
